1998

What a year. Easily the most successful to date. By the end of the year our dogs had won 10 CCs. 3 Reserve CCs. 4 Best in Show awards. 1 Reserve Best in Show. And 15 Best of Breed wins. And on top of this Barbara judged the Bitches at Crufts.
Frosty (PHREELANCER PHROSTY MOON OVER CORYDON) started it all by winning the Best of Breed award at Peterborough Open Show under Tracy Jackson. He followed this by winning Best of Breed at Cambridge City Open Show and then to Wath West Melton Open Show where not only did he win Best of Breed under Mrs P Clayton, but she liked him enough to award him Best in Show all Breeds. Miss D Moores awarded Best of Breed at Newark Open Show and then Mr B Skyrme made him Best Dog at London and Provincial Collie Club where he then went on to win Best in Show.
His next big win was at The National Show under Ros Cartwright who awarded him his first CC and then Best of Breed. He went on to win the CC at his next 7 Championship Shows. We think that this is a record for the breed. These were at the Scottish Kennel Club under Brian Hawkins where he was Best of Breed. London Collie Club under Mr R Baker. Where he became CH PHREELANCER PHROSTY MOON OVER CORYDON. Border Union under Mr A Wight, another Best of Breed and Group 4 under Mrs Z Thorn-Andrews. South Wales under Marion Clarke also Best of Breed. National Working and Pastoral Breeds under Mary Farnes also Best of Breed and Group 4 under Mrs M Egerton. East Anglian Collie Association under Pat Lister where he went on to Best in Show. And finally the Welsh Kennel Club under Kath Jeffries who once again awarded him Best of Breed. He missed out at Darlington where he decided that showing was for fools, but he came back at Midland Counties under Mrs P Cross-Stern who awarded him his 9th CC. But before all this excitement CH CORYDON KITTYCAT won the CC and Best of Breed at Scottish Breeds under Mr R Anderton. Frosty won the Reserve Dog CC at this show.
CORYDON IL SUPREMO won the Reserve Dog CC from the Junior Dog Class under Joyce Collis ( who was to award him a Group 1 a few years later). His sister CORYDON LA SOGNORA was not going to be left out and she won the Best in Show award at the Collie Association Open Show under John Geddes.
Altogether our dogs won 37 first prizes during 1998.
I have to say that we had a lot of fun that year.
