A quite successful year. The highlight was another Reserve Challenge Certificate. This time to CORYDON DON VICISTI at West of England Collie Society under the late great Tom Purvis. He did rather well as the CC winner was Ch Royal Ace of Rokeby.
We started the year well as our new blue merle puppy CORYDON CORROBOREE came out with a bang and won several 1st prizes and had a Best of Breed at Bridgeford under Mrs M Tingley. He was then exported to Germany where He did quite well.
Crufts for once was successful as CORYDON DON VICISTI was placed third in the strong Open Dog Class under Hazel Collins (now Hazel Hunt). I
remember this show well as we had a big snow storm the evening before the show and we had a real problem on the roads as we were travelling on deep
virgin snow for some 30 miles before we met more traffic. Yes we do get snow – sometimes!!!
CORYDON COUNTRYMAN won a Best in Show award at the East Anglian Collie Association Limited Show under Mervin Davies. And then he had a Reserve Best in Show award at the Smooth Collie Club Open Show under Alan Jefferies.
We also brought out a puppy this year who would have quite an impact on the Corydon Kennel. This was CORYDON QUO VADIS. He was to sire our great CH CORYDON QUI VIVE. She was from the only litter he sired for as soon after she was born we discovered that his grandsire on both sides had PRA. Although Maxi as we called him was free from this eye problem we did
not risk him siring possible affected puppies. Fortunately we have never had any puppy affected with PRA.
