The year started with a New job, a New House, our very first owned home, and a New location from Kent to Northamptonshire. The life-stile also changed as we were no longer on a farm. I had left Farm Management to take up a position as Area Manager with an Animal Feed Company. No more early mornings, but a lot of car driving instead.
The show scene was exciting for us as we won our very first Reserve Challenge Certificate. This was with CORYDON ISA BELLA at the Northumberland & Durham Collie Club Championship Show with Mr D McPherson as the judge. He was the owner and breeder of Ch Gunner of Glenturret who was the sire of Ch Jefsfire Strollaway who in turn was the sire of Isa Bella.
Isa Bella went on to win 2 Best of Breed awards, at Kettering Canine Society under Gwen Broadley and Corby C.S. Under Mr S G Sills. She then went on to win Best in Show at the East Anglian Collie Association Sanction Show under Brian Lakeman.
Not to be outdone CORYDON BELLA DONNA won 5 more Best of Breed awards. Essex Agricultural Society under Joyce Seargeant, Isle of Ely C.S. Under Mr W E Forster, Wealdstone & Northolt under Len Hucklesbee,
Kingston on Soar Agricultural Society under Joe Braddon and Northampton County Show under Alan Jeffries.
Altogether these 2 bitches won 19 first prizes during 1965.
Also very exciting for us is that we bought our second
bitch puppy. This was RALVERA’S DONNASMAID. She was by CH RALVERA’S MEADOW MARQUIS out of RALVERA’S DELIGHTFUL DONNA. She had one litter and then became our very first export when she went to Sweden. The litter was very important to us as it contained
Corydon Countryman and Corydon Coalblackmaid.
